Pearl Necklace Shorteners Enhancers

One needs to be clever about their accessories with the ever rising cost of metals and jewels. Having gadgets that work in multi-function purposes, with jewelry you may already own, is one way to stretch your $$$.

Opera length pearls, or longer, can be a great thing, but the long length can be limiting.

One way to maximize your jewelry wardrobe is by using converters/shorteners that can make your pieces shorter.
Pearl shorteners have been around since the late 1800's and are still widely in use today.

Many times you cannot even tell a pearl shortener is being use when covered by collars or hair. Other times, it can be used as a focal point, in the front, with perhaps a pendant attached, for statement making jewelry.

We carry a wide variety in: 14 KT white & yellow gold, sterling silver, and a few platinum pieces and even stainless steel.
Prices start in the $20.00 range, so it can be a more affordable option to take advantage of the jewelry you already own!

These brilliant gadgets are easy to use, and their function is not limited to simply pearls, additionally, other beaded necklaces and even gold/silver chains that have an open loop to catch on, can be shortened with ease.

Furthermore, pearl shortener can also be used in certain circumstances as a pendant enhancer converter. By simply looping the bail of a pendant through one end of the enhancer and a necklace chain you can create a new look to an old piece.

Home safes and Chris Bosh Jewelry Burglary

The recent home burglary of Miami Heat star, Chris Bosh, provides a reason to look at look at your own home security. Bosh had almost $500,000 of Jewelry, purses and cash stolen from his home.

For your jewelry and other valuables , a home safe can provide a high level of protection if you choose the right one. Safes come with theft and fire ratings based on how long they’re tool resistant (TL) or torch resistant (TR). A TL15 rating means that a safe has been tested to hold off a burglar, using common hand held tools, for at least 15 minutes. While this is not perfect, keep in mind that most burglars are interested in getting in and out very quickly. A TL30 rating provides an even stronger barrier to fight through. An inner safe temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit or below will generally keep your jewelry and other valuables from being damaged in a fire. An example fireproof rating would be a 1-1/2 hour 350 degree F rating. This rating means that the safe could be exposed to a 1700 degree F fire for a period of 1-1/2 hours, and that the temperature inside the safe would not rise above 350 degrees F.

Other Home Jewelry Safety Tips:

  • If you do not have a safe and you where the item infrequently, consider keeping it in a safe deposit box.
  • For insurance purposes, take a picture of the item or collection. Get into the habit of keeping a photo record of all of your Jewelry items. This helps to document your loss and speeds up the claims process.
  • Update the value of your jewelry. Expensive items increase or decrease in value from year to year. Talk to your insurance professional about how to make sure the dollar amount of your floater or endorsement reflects these changes.
